Password Manager Capabilities: The True Benefits of a Perfect User Interface

interface-01

Recently I had a conversation with a friend that has been covering the technology industry for large print and online publications for over 20 years. I asked him for his opinion on the single most important aspect of a technology, if he had to choose just one. Without hesitation, he answered that the user interface was the most important and I instantly thought of a password manager.

Ease of use and convenience by design are crucial elements to the success of technology platforms. In the old days, I remember reading reviews that criticized desktops that were too hard to open and replace internal components. Additionally, software commonly falls victim to criticism when it’s too difficult for users to navigate, select options and execute intended functions.

It’s a cliché, but if one quote sums up the tech industry it’s Leonardo di Vinci’s prophetic observation that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Putting It Together Simply, with Hypersocket Password Manager

Traditionally password management solutions have suffered from a “hard to use” stigma when looking at the implementation, maintenance and day to day operation of their platform. These are some of the factors that have caused difficult and cumbersome password experiences for both end-users and network administrators alike. The result of these issues has been a loss of time suffered by both parties and an increase in cost usually incurred by the company.

Solutions, however, like Hypersocket Password Manager are revolutionizing this notion of “hard to use” password management solutions by providing organizations with a free, downloadable solution that provides self-service password capabilities to an unlimited amount of users in an easy to use interface. It’s the only solution that offers this capability, at no cost and in a simple to install, navigate and operate package.

One perfect example of this ease of use is our single sign-on desktop client, as seen in the image below.

user interface

The desktop client is a launch bar on the yellow screen. The client represents an easy option for your organization to access their single sign-on applications via a launch bar. This consists of a graphical list of a user’s assigned applications.

The client has the app logo which lets users click and easily navigate to their chosen website. The client also has setting options that lets administrators move it from right to left and from the bottom to top of screen. This functionality includes the ability to align the bar to be thicker or thinner according to user preference.

Another capability that produces an ease-of -use element within the desktop Password Manager client is the ability for users to colour coordinate features like the icon bar. They can chose to freeze the icon bar so that it doesn’t move, or select to have the icon bar fold into the desktop screen and appear when the mouse pointer hovers over the bar location.
