Restricting administration login to a different port

Chris Dakin

Introduction

By default, LogonBox allows you to log in with an administration link from the main web page.

If you wish to restrict the main web page to user logins only and move admin logins to a different port for extra security, please see below.

Create new interface

Navigate to System Configuration->Interfaces and click Create to start creating a new interface.

Give the new interface a name, for example Admin HTTPS. Set the port to a different port number.

On the Protocol tab, set your Certificate to the same cert you use on the main HTTPS interface and click Create.

At this point you should be able to see and log in to the web port on the new port, but there are currently no restrictions set.

Restricting admin access to the new interface

Navigate to System Configuration->Configuration->Authentication where you should see the Admin Interfaces section.

Move the new interface to the Included section and Apply the changes.

Test your admin login.

You will note that the default HTTPS interface will still have the Administration link (this can be separately hidden if you wish) but if you try to log in on that interface you will get an error:
